Digital Story

Reflection:

Our assignment was to create a movie about a story in our life. The story has to be interesting, and blends out. It should show expression, and have it’s own uniqueness or style The rules are, we have to get pictures from either the internet or yourself, make a script and then record yourself, and be creative. It is simple, but it takes time to progress.

            My digital story is about a time when I had to go to the temple, and learn about the culture, language, and style of dancing. My mom forced my sister and I to join the program, and it made us become better learners in both English and Laos. The images I used are some photos from home and some from the Internet. I use specific dancing pictures that were taken at the temple, and it helped me with my project because my digital story was about the time I started dancing and learning more about the culture.

            I have chosen this story because it showed how I was involved in a program, and it has impacted my life. I also chosen this story because I want to show people whoever are watching that our culture is unique, and that there is more to just speaking the language. This story is significant to me because it tells me how I shouldn’t forget about the family culture and what they do.

            I think that I did okay because I felt as if everything was a rush with the Digital Story project. I believe that if I had more time I could’ve done it way better, and also get to know the imovie better, and work with it. In addition, I would say the imovie is different compare to the adobe Photoshop because we get to advanced our pictures to better our understanding in this class. Also, Digital Media Class has been a great help, and helped me explore new environments using technology. It showed us that anyone could use technology as long as you know your tools. I believe in the future I would use adobe Photoshop because it can help me with future projects that are needed to be done.

Photographic Truth

Reflection:

The purpose of this project was to place ourselves in historical pictures from past events.  To create our image what had to be done first was to choose a topic and search for the six images. Then, take pictures and add them on to the historical images. When it has been added on to the historical image, we need to be make the image glow, by using blending options, adjust the brightness/contrast, blur, and many more to make the image look historical. I believe that the term photographic truth means that it has to be a historical event that you can put yourself into, and no cartoon images because it’s suppose to be historical.

            My book was based on the holocaust. I have chosen six different images about the holocaust, the first one was when a bunch of Jewish where being taken away from the ghetto where they lived. The second image shows that they were then being arrested, then the next one was when they where lined up. The fourth image showed them pulling ropes. The fifth image shows where they are sleeping, and the last image shows them standing close to each other.  I chose a person that I think I can add myself on and then took pictures posing like the character, then after I added my face onto their face and used many tools such as filter, blur tool, erase tool, and many more.

            The theme that I had chosen was on the holocaust. I had chosen this theme because I thought that it would be a good topic to do it on. The presence of myself altered the meaning of the image because by adding myself into the image it has made it seem like I was part of that historical event, and had been in many pictures. It shows the person looking at the image that I too was part of that historical event.

            From doing this project, “Photographic Truth” I learned how to work with adobe more, and it has helped me improve on my skills with this particular laptop. Something new that I learned was learning how to use the eraser tool, and the blur tool, it was a great help for me, and help my picture blend in with the image. I think this assignment was great, it helped my skill improve. This project wasn’t that difficult anymore because it got easier everytime I put myself in another image. I believe I was a success because it came out great. What I believe I would do differently is if I had more time I would study the image more and see how I can place myself in other people’s face.

Lyrical Triptych Project;

Lyrical Triptych Reflection;

        When we received this assignment, we were told to pick a song that we like, and make triptychs using adobe photo shop. The steps I used to make my Lyrical Triptych were to pick a song that I believe I can work with to do a triptych. Then, I would go online to look for pictures so I can put them in my triptych. The picture has to go with the lyrics as well. After finding good pictures for the triptych we had to put them onto our adobe photo shop and design our triptychs. It was very interesting because we get to play with the photo shop, it helped us a lot too, because it can improve our designing skills on this adobe photo shop.

I honestly can say that I didn’t know what song to choose, until I heard one the day before we started this project. The song I had chosen was called “Lucky Me” by Chris Brown. The theme I used on my triptych was cartoons, and the finished piece looks great because it goes well with the song even though it has a cartoon theme. The adobe photo shop tools I used were the magic wand, which helped cut a picture out if the background is solid. I also used the magic lasso tool which helps trace around the edge of the picture so we can use that for our triptych. Another, tool that I used was the polygonal lasso, which is another tracing tool for our image, there are many more other tools I used. While doing each triptych I used filter which makes the picture blend more with the theme, and to use it I went to filter  and then adjustment and it showed many ways to make your picture better for your theme.

I created an image on my triptychs by listening to the music and expressing the words the singer said onto my triptychs. By listening to the music I created a mood that blends with the song, and by doing that I chosen pictures to express how the song goes, and the mood of the song went well with the picture. For example, when the singer said “Lights on, Stage set. I guess I got to put on a show cause every ones waiting” I put on my triptych a cartoon singing on stage with lights all on her, and she looks happy doing it. That’s the kind of feeling I put into my first triptych because in this song I have chosen there are different moods, but at the end the singer will always put a smile on.

       This year, photo shop has helped me improve with my designing skills, and I have learned a lot from it. When class started this year, I didn’t know what the polygonal lasso is or do, the magnetic lasso tool, and the magic wand. I thought these were all the same tools just different names but they had more to it. From experiencing adobe photo shop this year, it made it more easier for me to design another project. I like photo shop because I believe that photo shop can help me more with creating a collage, and design things that are helpful. Also from the help of the adobe photo shop I believe my lyrical triptych was a success, I used many tools and it can out great, I think that my triptychs came out great because it blends together and with the song. If I was to do this assignment all over again I would chose a song that I believe I can work with, and can picture it more better. Overall, I think I did well.

Magazine Cover Design Reflection

            During our Digital Media class, we were assigned to make our own magazine. Before creating our own magazine, our teacher helped us all by showing some examples from students who created it last year. When designing our magazine, we first have to choose a topic to talk about. Then, head online to search for the title of the magazine you want to be on and a background for the magazine you think fits your topic. Afterwards, you open the images into adobe and change the size so it can actually fit onto your magazine. From then on, just add quotes and make your magazine look good.

            My magazine title is National Geographic, and on my magazine is a picture of me discovering a unique creature in the wilderness and I was writing facts down on my clipboard about it until some took a snapshot of me. I would describe my magazine to a blind person by telling them that I made it on the front cover of National Geographic, and the photographer took a picture of me holding my clipboard while I was writing facts down about the unknown creature. I thought it was interesting, and from discovering an unknown animal helped me show people that we’re not the only living things on earth.

            Through my magazine I was trying to explain that humans are not the only living things on this planet, and that there’s many other unknown creature hiding out in our world. On the magazine my body language shows that I am very interested in discovering mysterious creatures because of the way I looked at my clipboard shows the reader that the animal I am working with has great potentials. Also the colors on my magazine shows the reader that they should read more about it, and that unknown creatures are very exclusive to all human because about 95% of the human race never seen a strange creature before.

            I believe that my artwork is a successful because as I looked at my finished work it looked good, but I think that I still need some improving on my magazine. I think that I need improving on it because it could’ve been better with the colors, and the quotes, they’re the ones that I think I need work on the most. Overall, I believe that creating a magazine has helped me comprehend more with technology, and I believe it will help me in the future and years to come.
